The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award is the World’s leading youth achievement award. Taking part enables young people to develop practical skills, behaviours and attitudes that are valued by employers globally. We are extremely proud to offer our Young Learners aged 14-17 in Lisbon centres the chance to participate in this scheme, currently at Bronze level, with the aim to add Silver and Gold in the coming years.
The Award recognises that not all learning happens in the classroom. Young people need experiences outside the classroom to become committed, responsible and fulfilled citizens of the world.
The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award equips young people for life regardless of their background, culture, physical ability, skills and interests. Doing the Award is a personal challenge and not a competition against others; it pushes young people to their personal limits and recognises their achievements.
Since its launch over 60 years ago, the Award has inspired millions of young people to transform their lives. Through non formal education, the Award can play a critical role in a young person’s personal development.
The Bronze Award is comprised of three levels and four sections (physical recreation, skill, voluntary service and an adventurous journey). Participants complete all four sections at each level in order to achieve their Award. More information is available at http://www.intaward.org/
