These rules apply to both the semi-final and the final

  • PowerPoint is not allowed
  • Props are permitted but are limited to what you can carry on stage. There is no time for set up once on stage
  • You will present in Portuguese in the national competitions. However, the international final will be in English.

FameLab 2019

The two semi finals took place:

  1. In Aveiro, at the Universidade de Aveiro on 06 April;
  2. In Lisbon, at the Pavilhão do Conhecimento Ciência Viva, on 07 April.

2019 FameLab Final

The Final took place on 28 Abril at the Auditório Ilídio Pinho, Universidade Católica do Porto. 

The following contestants proved to be the winners:

Public Prize: Pedro Coelho

3rd Place: Pedro Coelho

2nd Place: Catarina Raimundo 

Winner: Rui Carvalho

The winner of the National Final will go on to represent Portugal at the International Finals. These finals will be held in the United Kingdom, during the Cheltenham Science Festival, between 05 and 06 Junho 2019. 

The International Final will be livestreamed.

Bárbara Pinho, an undergraduate student of Biomedical Sciences, represented Portugal in the International Finals which took place in the UK, during the Cheltenham Science Festival, on 06 and 07 June 2018. 

National Final 2018

The 2018 Final was held on 12 April, in the Coliseu dos Recreios, as part of the National Geographic Summit.

It was contested by the following 12 candidates:

  • Catarina Raposo
  • Cláudia Pereira
  • João Cardoso
  • Fábio Sousa
  • Inês Guedes
  • João Batina
  • João Castelhano
  • Nuno Martins

The winner was Bárbara Pinho, with Inês Guedes taking second place and João Cardoso came third. He also won the Public Prize.
